JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the general supervision of the Chief Dosimetrist and Clinical Director of Medical Physics, and at the direction of the Radiation Oncologists, provides optimized computerized treatment planning documents to Radiation Oncologists for review and selection. Also provides support and assistance for other medical physics activities related to patient care and staff education. Uses optical disk, film digitizer or analog digitizer to input physical patient parameters into treatment planning system. Is proficient in the treatment planning aspect of the care of the patients including Simulation, Computerized planning and Treatment delivery. Maintains skills to assess and care for patients of all ages. Produces plans with all pertinent instructions to accomplish patient set-up documented on plan. Constructs molds, casts, compensating filters, beam-shaping shielding devices, etc. to accomplish patient treatment and reproducibility per computerized plan. Assists in the application of brachytherapy procedures including High-Dose Rate Applications, Interstitial and Intracavitary Procedures. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be board eligible for certification as a Medical Dosimetrist by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB). Bachelor's degree from a Medical Dosimetry program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology preferred.
