Description

     Shift:          Full Time Day / Night  (36 hours weekly)

     Shift:           Full Time (36 hours weekly) NIGHTS ONLY 7pm – 7:30 Am

Location:          Travel between Emory locations within Emory Healthcare

   Salary:           Based on Three (3) different travel levels starting @ $62

We are seeking a capable Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse who is a highly skilled clinician who has demonstrated sustained professional contribution beyond direct patient care. This nurse floats between assigned units and locations as needed, maintaining clinical competency across multiple patient populations and adapting practice to each unit's workflows, protocols, and equipment. Recognized for proficient, in-depth clinical knowledge across assigned specialty areas, the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse routinely applies expertise to daily practice, anticipates and responds to patient and family needs, and serves as a dependable resource to colleagues and the interdisciplinary team at each assigned location. This nurse actively engages in quality, knowledge, or leadership activities that strengthen unit performance and team capability across assigned float locations.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Clinical Practice and Patient Care:

 

  • Floats between assigned units and locations as needed, maintaining clinical competency across multiple patient populations and adapting practice to each unit's workflows, protocols, and equipment.
  • Demonstrates advanced assessment skills and anticipates the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes.
  • Plans and implements individualized patient care drawing on clinical experience; modifies the plan of care based on patient and family input and goals.
  • Evaluates and promptly adjusts the plan of care when changes in patient condition require it.
  • Anticipates patient and family learning needs and collaborates with the patient and family to identify appropriate resources.
  • Frequently acts as a resource to other nurses and colleagues regarding patient care needs and clinical decision-making.
  • Documents the nursing process accurately in the appropriate format and contributes suggestions for improving documentation processes.
  • Manages time effectively and assists colleagues with time management.

 

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Works effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team, including patient and family advisors, and serves as a resource to other team members.
  • Develops or contributes to the revision of policies, procedures, or workflows for a patient population, incorporating current evidence-based practice.
  • Functions in a leadership role and serves as Charge Nurse when assigned.
  • Precepts staff or students, including serving as a designated preceptor.
  • Explores opportunities to improve resource utilization and support cost containment.
  • Promotes cohesive team behavior among peers and provides assistance and guidance as needed.
  • Delegates effectively and supports other team members in the appropriate delegation of care.
  • Actively contributes to unit-based shared governance or practice council initiatives, identifying discipline-specific practice issues and helping develop or implement solutions.

 

Communication and Professionalism:

 

  • Role models effective listening skills and anticipate barriers to communication.
  • Independently resolves routine and non-routine patient care and practice issues within own scope of practice, recognizing when a situation requires escalation to leadership or additional resources.
  • Advocates for patients and challenges systems or practices that negatively impact patient or family outcomes.
  • Alters interpersonal approaches reflect cultural differences and patient values.
  • Develops and sustains collaborative relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Respects and maintains the confidentiality of all patients and organizational information.
  • Actively promotes open communication, psychological safety, and the One Emory Culture within the team.

 

Professional Development:

 

  • Documents professional contributions across required frameworks and engages in activities that reflect sustained, role-based contribution to patient care quality, knowledge development, or the professional culture of nursing.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

 

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • 2.5 years of recent and relevant nursing experience in the specialty area.
  • A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing. Certification: - BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and FHM certifications required as relevant to the role and specialty area.
  • Must obtain and maintain a specialty certification from the department’s current Approved Certification List within twelve (12) months of hire or placement into the role. Approved certifications are established by the department and may vary based on specialty. Certifications not included on the approved list will not satisfy this requirement unless reviewed and approved by department leadership. Failure to obtain and maintain an approved certification within the required timeframe may result in further action in accordance with department and organizational guidelines.

 

Preferred Required Qualifications:

 

  • Cardiovascular Intensive Care experience preferred
