The Image Exchange Specialist II plays a vital role in facilitating the sharing of patient images through various digital platforms. They oversee and coordinate all activities related to sending and sharing Emory Healthcare images across all modalities. This includes obtaining authorization for release, burning images onto appropriate media, and ensuring they are sent to the requested location. The specialist manages patient and physician requests related to imaging through online worklists and request queues and processes electronic requests via imaging sharing software for both patients and facilities. In addition to these responsibilities, the Image Exchange Specialist II may be tasked with uploading outside imaging for Emory Healthcare providers for reference or consultation purposes. They provide direction and assistance to clinical and research staff in retrieving, distributing, and displaying digital images via web-based applications. Legal requests for imaging records may also fall under their purview, requiring them to certify the accuracy and completeness of records. The specialist processes all requests for images to be shared for research purposes, which involves collecting relevant information and de-identifying patient information as necessary. Effective communication skills are essential in this role as the specialist serves as the primary contact for sending images to various stakeholders. They must be able to multitask and manage numerous requests from patients, research teams, legal entities, and clinical staff while prioritizing based on departmental and patient needs. Maintaining knowledge of HIPAA guidelines for release of information and departmental policies is crucial to ensure compliance. The specialist communicates with internal and external stakeholders to provide high-level service and identifies, analyzes, and resolves problems within the image exchange system related to equipment failure, legal requests, and patient inquiries. Acting as a liaison between the Radiology department and the Emory Healthcare medical records department is also part of their duties. This position is ideal for candidates who demonstrate compassion, commitment to excellent customer service, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and strong interpersonal and communication abilities. Ideal candidates should be quick learners, able to adapt to new processes, procedures, and software programs while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy in their work.
Minimum Required Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Two years of experience in a radiology department or related healthcare field. Skills: 1. Knowledge of radiology department workflow, medical records processes, and healthcare administration is preferred. 2. Basic computer literacy. 3. Strong written and oral communication skills. 4. Ability to multitask effectively. .
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs., 0-33% of the work day (infrequently) Lifting 25 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
