Description

Job Summary: We seek an individual to work under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist Leader. The Technician Supervisor serves as a key member of the local pharmacy leadership team. This role provides visible, value-driven leadership that emphasizes best practices, prioritizes patient safety, and supports high-value care and optimal patient outcomes across Emory Healthcare. Primary duties and responsibilities: Leadership and Management: 1. The Supervisor oversees daily operations of pharmacy technician staff, including new hire orientation, onboarding, training, and cross-training across all pharmacy areas. 2. They are responsible for creating monthly schedules, managing staffing needs, and securing shift coverage. 3. This position ensures regulatory compliance by maintaining current technician training and vaccination records. 4. Individual will monitor time and attendance, ensuring accurate records and timely payroll submission in alignment with Emory Healthcare policies. 5. Additional responsibilities include supporting annual goal setting, conducting mid-year and annual performance evaluations, disciplinary action as needed and maintaining documentation for direct reports. 6. Eight to 10 hours per week is dedicated to administrative duties. Operational Excellence: 1. The Supervisor is expected to perform technician duties to support operations - under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the supervisor procures, receives, prepares, distributes, and disposes of medications and pharmaceutical supplies to assist the department in providing quality pharmaceutical care for all patients. 2. Maintains an established inventory of drugs and commonly used supplies; re-orders and stocks items upon delivery to ensure immediate availability. 3. Understands and implements appropriate time management and prioritization of tasks ensuring timely and safe patient care. 4. Performs other duties as assigned. Collaboration and Communication: 1. The Supervisor works collaboratively with technicians and pharmacists to gather feedback and drive workflow and patient care improvements. 2. Provides organizational and technical support to less experienced technicians and assists in training of new personnel. Quality and Regulatory Compliance: 1. Maintains competency and follows departmental, USP, DEA, and FDA guidelines when repackaging and compounding pharmaceutical products. 2. Calibrate IV Pumps and other equipment as needed. Maintains competency and follows departmental, OSHA, USP, and EPA guidelines to safely and accurately handle, prepare, distribute, and dispose of hazardous products. 3. Corrects discrepancies identified by the performance improvement process. 4. Monitors proper preparation of pharmaceuticals and compliance with departmental protocol and guidelines for pharmacy operations Travel: Less than 10% of the time may be required. Minimum Qualifications: Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent Required. Experience - At least five years experience or three years of related pharmacy experience as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Registration - Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GA Board of Pharmacy Certification - Current CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA required Must maintain certification and registration through entire length of employment. Preferred Qualifications Education -. Associate or bachelor's degree is preferred. Successful completion of an ASHP accredited technician training program preferred. Experience - Some supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge, skills, and ability requirements: This role requires a proactive approach in developing innovative solutions to improve processes, enhance employee satisfaction, and streamline communication across diverse teams.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs.; up to 50% of the work day; 0-20 lbs. up to 50% of the workday; Lifting 50 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 35 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases, Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
