Job Summary: Manages all patients in the Emory Reproductive Center but is the primary coordinator for in-vitro patients. Organizes, initiates, and follows-up on all infertility services. Provides education to the IVF patient population and triages patient care for efficient infertility office operation. Works with the physicians and staff to provide timely professional clinical services for IVF patients. Serves as a resource to lesser experienced nurses and to support staff. Primary duties and responsibilities: Patient Care and Education: 1. Provide patient education and consultation to explain and define complicated medical treatments and procedures, as well as perform injection training and medication education. 2. Provide emotional support to patients and family members throughout the course of treatment and afterwards. 3. Manage the care of patients, including, but not limited to In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). 4. Monitor and track patients through treatment and ensure quality care is administered and respond to patient issues and/or concerns. 5. Receive and maintain laboratory, radiology and other test results and communicate results to physicians and patients. 6. Must be able to establish a daily patient call schedule for patient follow up after completion of labs, tests and IVF procedures. 7. Completes needed discharge follow up phone calls to patients and documents appropriately. Collaboration and Treatment Planning: 1. Works with the physicians and staff to provide timely professional clinical services for IVF patients. 2. Develop and maintain a partnership with communication between Physician and Patient to facilitate and navigate through treatment and follow up. 3. Will work closely with reproductive endocrinologists on patient treatment plans to develop and follow an IVF process that adequately meets the needs of the patients. 4. Collaborates with members of the healthcare team to determine patient needs and needs of significant others in planning and treatment. Documentation and Compliance: 1. Maintain accurate, complete and timely documentation as required for patient case management, patient care and IVF retrieval/transfer procedures, in addition to always adhering to HIPAA and FDA rules and regulations. Professionalism and General Duties: 1. Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment with patients, peers, staff and other members of the health care team. 2. Must work in an organized manner and complete work in a timely manner, with minimal supervision. 3. Must be able to handle difficult situations with courtesy, diplomacy and professionalism. 4. Must have a history of demonstrating consistently high-quality service-oriented behavior towards patients, their partners, physicians and other staff at all times. 5. Attend scheduled staff meetings. 6. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications: Minimum required: Education - Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Experience - 1. Two or more years as an IVF nurse in a fertility center. 2. At least 3 of clinical nursing experience in a hospital or healthcare setting. Licensure - Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board. Certification - 1.BLS certification. 2. If completing virtual care activities that may include multi-state practice, an active compact/multistate license (eNLC) is required within 60 days of hire. Employees in role prior to 11/09/2025 will have until their next renewal date to achieve compact status. Knowledge, skills, and abilities (required): 1. Must have effective oral and written communication skills in English. 2. Must be able to work with anxious patients who may be demanding and /or sensitive, due to the nature of their medical condition. 3. Attention to detail and accuracy is imperative. Preferred Qualifications: Experience - Preference for experience in women's health, reproductive medicine, or an acute care environment. Physical Requirements: (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. Environmental Factors: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
