JOB DESCRIPTION: Identifies, analyzes and resolves problems identified within the Radiology reading rooms. Ensures that all patient images and information associated with each patient are available for each physician to review. Ensures that studies are readily available on PACS for physicians. Burns images to CD, or registers patients in imaging sharing software. Manages consultation requests from clinicians. Utilize application in order to provide requesting physicians with a preliminary report and associate and correct reports on patients. Verifies patient procedures are completed in the Radiology Information System. Check exam status to ensure final report. Merge patient data in regards to duplicate patients. Verify patient schedules and track patients. Assist technologists with data management regarding accession numbers on patients. Gathers data for patients done outside of Emory Healthcare. Coordinates workflow and image transfers with other facilities. Merge duplicate x-ray and medical record numbers. Assists physicians in providing image interpretation and documentation of studies. Evaluates This individual assists in contacting requesting physicians, obtaining information from Powerchart, utilizing PACS for prior studies, checking the RIS for prior reports, and also insuring report documentation for patients. Assists with med school lectures by finding articles on the internet for physicians. Prints out reports for physicians for conference. Coordinates equipment service needs utilizing 8-help, and assists with training of residents on new equipment and applications. Ensures these activities do not disrupt patient services. Works with IS to ensure data systems and programs adequately support QA activities. Ensures technology provides optimal diagnostic information and throughput. Daily equipment check and maintenance of Powerscribe workstation. Place reports in a batch queue for dictation and correct status on error log reports. Regularly meets with and communicates operational changes to physicians to ensure they are aware of information that may affect their workflow. Seeks input and recommendations from physicians on ways to improve operations. Oversees pilots and new workflow implementation that affects physician workflow. Assist in Downtime Processes. Operates ACR database and payment process for quality oversite. Ensures physicians are appropriately registered in database and associated systems. Process weekly Imaging Workflow Specialist Phone Queue Report, Process Complete Not Final Reports, Monitor Accuracy of Qgenda. Oversees and coordinates radiology quality assurance activities governed by the ACR, by establishing quality measures and standards, monitoring departmental performance in relation to established standards, and ensuring all physicians are reminded of compliance. Attends quality-related conferences. Acts as a super user on all applicable systems, software and workflows. Orients new employees to the department. Trains other imaging workflow specialists, technologists, clinicians and radiologists as appropriate on applications and workflows. Assists in creating documentation around proper application use and workflows to be distributed to appropriate teams. Assist in performing annual competencies for Imaging Workflow Specialist. Serve as secondary coverage to primary Imaging Workflow Specialist Works with leadership to develop a program of professional improvement. Takes classes through the HLC to Directs record-keeping activities by interpreting applicable regulations and establishing filing and auditing procedures to ensure files contain complete and accurate documentation. Remains knowledgeable in regards to HIPAA and departmental policies, also ensures compliance with requirements by reviewing all relevant documents and informing physicians of changes on departmental services or programs. Maintains inventory within the department to ensure that supplies are available when needed and that limited resources are used appropriately and efficiently. Develops implements and evaluates cost containment programs of consumable supplies and equipment on an on-going basis. Assists in design and re-modeling projects related to their reading room(s). Communicates potential issues and opportunities to management, and assists in developing solutions. Collaborates with appropriate staff to assess information system needs and to facilitate the development of an electronic medical record. Maintains knowledge of OSHA and Joint Commission regulations and reports potential issues to management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. Five years of experience in radiology department or related healthcare experience. Knowledge of radiology department workflow and various imaging modalities preferred. Familiarity with specific radiology information applications required. Basic computer knowledge e.g. the ability to use a keyboard, mouse, and video display terminal to receive, retrieve and/or audit information and data. Good written/oral and analytical skills required.
