Description

  • Provides properly functioning respiratory care equipment in an expedient manner.

  • Disassembles, cleans, and reassembles respiratory care equipment.

  • Performs preventive maintenance on select equipment and verifies operational readiness.

  • Organizes, monitors, and maintains appropriate supply inventories.

  • Maintains inventory for all Respiratory Care equipment and supplies to ensure adequate stock levels.

  • Orders and receives respiratory equipment and supplies.

  • Dispenses and monitors the use of Respiratory Care equipment and supplies.

  • Processes departmental supplies to ensure equipment needs are consistently met.

  • Disinfects respiratory equipment according to departmental procedures.

  • Repacks processed equipment following departmental guidelines.

  • Maintains and replaces portable cylinders, hand trucks/stands, and regulators in clinical and stock areas.

  • Reorganizes small par stock inventory as needed.

  • Transports supplies to Central Supply for gas stabilization and ensures timely pickup and processing.

  • Reprocesses equipment after post-sterilization procedures.

  • Transports equipment and supplies to and from the Respiratory Department according to departmental guidelines.

  • Stocks and organizes supplies in designated storage areas.

  • Responds to and fulfills requests for respiratory equipment.

  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels to support patient care operations.

  • Collaborates with the manager to develop a professional development plan.

  • Attends educational in-services and training sessions as appropriate.

  • Participates in professional activities and organizational initiatives to remain informed on current trends and practices.

  • Adheres to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment.

  • Utilizes effective communication, interpersonal skills, and teamwork.

  • Follows all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Contributes to the overall quality of services provided by the department.

  • Maintains awareness of and stays informed about policy and procedural updates.

  • Practices and follows infection control measures and principles.

Additional Responsibilities

  • May perform EKG technician duties as needed.

  • May perform basic acute care respiratory therapy if enrolled in the final year of a clinical externship from an accredited respiratory program and working under the supervision of an assigned RCP.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association.

  • ACLS and/or NRP certifications may be required in designated departments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
