Description

  • Performs all duties of an Anesthesia Technologist I while providing enhanced clinical and technical support to anesthesia providers.

  • Assists with anesthesia administration and monitoring.

  • Supports both invasive and non-invasive procedures.

  • Ensures proper setup, operation, and functionality of advanced anesthesia equipment.

  • Participates in staff training and mentorship, assisting with the orientation of new team members.

Clinical Support

  • Assists anesthesiologists with the administration and monitoring of anesthesia.

  • Maintains knowledge of anesthesia techniques, instruments, supplies, and related technologies.

  • Provides support for invasive and non-invasive patient monitoring procedures.

  • Assists with advanced line preparation and placement when needed.

Technical Equipment Support

  • Performs advanced equipment testing, calibration, troubleshooting, cleaning, and disinfection.

  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of:

    • Anesthesia equipment

    • Anesthesia medications

    • Anesthesia-related procedures

  • Demonstrates familiarity with different anesthesia machines, monitors, and their proper usage.

  • Ensures connectivity between anesthesia vital sign monitoring equipment and the anesthesia charting system when required.

Team Collaboration

  • Actively participates in the orientation and mentoring of new staff members.

Safety and Infection Control

  • Adheres to sterile technique principles and infection control standards.

  • Follows organizational policies and healthcare safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Type

  • On-site position, working at a physical workplace and collaborating directly with colleagues.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Experience: Two (2) years of work experience as an Anesthesia Technician or Technologist with a competency-based evaluation.

  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in sterile techniques and procedures.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate anesthesia-support equipment and patient monitoring systems.

  • Troubleshooting / Problem Solving: Ability to logically identify the source of a problem and restore processes or equipment to proper operation.

  • Infection Control: Knowledge of procedures to prevent or control the spread of pathogens in healthcare environments.

  • Medical Terminology: Ability to accurately use medical language to describe conditions, procedures, and treatments to support safe care and accurate documentation/billing.

  • Patient Monitoring: Ability to utilize medical equipment and clinical knowledge to monitor vital signs and physiological indicators to support diagnosis and patient care.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day; 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday; 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday; Lifting 50 lbs max; frequent standing & walking and pushing and pulling; Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.


ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, and environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
