SHIFT: 7 AM-5:30 PM / FULL-TIME / 40 HOURS

LOCATION: EMORY UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

Description

  • Functions as clinical resource to staff and expert interventional technologist practitioner.
  • Provides expert knowledge in anatomy and physiology; secondary leadership for day-to-day operations.
  • Assists supervisor with completion of staff orientation, staff competency, development of staffing patterns, maintenance of departmental and staff documentation.
  • Provides quality care to patients receiving diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures.
  • Monitors the appropriateness of patient care assignments based on patient care requirements and staff competence.
  • Communicates with nursing units and physicians concerning patient care needs and scheduling concerns.
  • Assists in coordinating staffing schedules and ensuring communication regarding areas of concern.
  • Ensures documentation is complete and accurate regarding all aspects of patient care and monitors the adherence to documentation standards.
  • Works with Interventional Technologist Supervisor to assure completion of orientation, initial and on going competency requirements of each staff member.
  • Provides clarification to less experienced patient care staff.
  • Demonstrates expert practitioner knowledge and skills.
  • Serves as a resource for advanced clinical knowledge.
  • Functions independently, can coordinates in Clinical Specialist's absence.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • Current ARRT licensure.
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience, and two-year experience in area of concentration.
  • Advanced Certification required.
  • Minimum expectation: .9 FTE/36 hours per week.
  • BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks
