Job Summary: An Anesthesia Technologist III fulfills all responsibilities of the Anesthesia Technologist I and II roles, while also providing advanced clinical and technical support. This includes assisting with invasive monitoring procedures, operating and maintaining complex equipment, and ensuring preparedness for high-acuity patient care. The Technologist III serves as a clinical resource, contributes to staff training and mentoring, participates in departmental initiatives, and upholds safety and infection control standards within a dynamic surgical environment. Clinical Support 1. Assist anesthesia clinicians in the insertion of invasive hemodynamic monitoring lines for patients with intricate health conditions. Technical Equipment Support 1. Aid in the setup, operation, and maintenance of advanced equipment, which may encompass but is not limited to IABP, TEE, CCO, etc. 2. Adhere to established protocols for equipment inspection. 3. Conduct tests on equipment to verify that it remains in optimal operating condition. 4. Execute troubleshooting and implement corrective measures to avert hazardous situations. 5. May be required to assist with the setup, operation, and/or maintenance of rapid blood/fluid infusion equipment, prostacyclin vasodilators, and blood salvaging systems. 6. May be required to perform daily diagnostic testing to ensure the ventilator is ready for patient use. Patient Care 1. Capable of managing more complex patients with multifaceted health issues. 2. Collaborate with anesthesia providers to address specific needs. 3. Anticipate, prepare, and execute activities for less predictable outcomes. Team Collaboration and Leadership 1. Active participation in the orientation and mentoring of new staff will be required. 2. Involvement in and/or leadership of committees or department/facility-wide committees may also be expected. 3. Serve as a clinical resource to staff. Safety and Infection Control 1. Adhere to principles of sterile technique and other infection control policies and standards to sustain a healthy work environment. Perform related responsibilities as required. Work Type: On-site - Works in the office or at a physical workplace, interacting with colleagues face-to-face.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Experience: Three (3) years of experience as an Anesthesia Technologist, with two (2) years of cardiac anesthesia experience and competency-based evaluation.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Knowledge, skills, and abilities (required): - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment - Strong communication and interpersonal skills with knowledge of medical/surgical and/or anesthetic terminology - Proficiency with sterile techniques and procedures. - Demonstrate trouble shooting skills for anesthesia supported equipment and patient monitoring. - Troubleshooting (Problem Solving): Capacity to logically and systematically search for the source of a problem and makes the product or process operational. - Infection Control: Knowledge of methods and techniques for preventing or stopping the spread of pathogens in hospitals, healthcare facilities, or the workplace. - Medical Terminology: Capability to use the universal language for describing the human body and its processes, medical conditions, diagnoses, treatments, procedures, and instructions throughout the patient care journey to ensure quality/safe care delivery and accurate medical billing. - Patient Monitoring: Capability to use various medical equipment, technology, and clinical knowledge to monitor a patient's vital signs, physiological parameters, and other health indicators to identify potential issues early, contribute to accurate diagnoses and support effective patient care/treatment. Preferred Qualifications Education: Associate's Degree in a life science Experience: One (1) year of healthcare related work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certifications: Cer. A.T.T. by ASATT
