The primary responsibility of the Image Exchange Specialist I is to facilitate the sharing of patient images through various digital platforms with both patients and external healthcare organizations. This role involves overseeing and coordinating all tasks associated with sending and sharing Emory Healthcare images, including obtaining authorization for release, burning images onto appropriate media, and mailing them to the requested destination. Additionally, the specialist will process and fulfill electronic requests via imaging sharing software for both patients and facilities. Effective management of patient and physician requests through online worklists and request queues is essential. Maintaining inventory within the department to ensure timely availability of supplies and efficient use of resources is also part of the role. The Image Exchange Specialist I serves as the primary point of contact for sending images from their assigned operating unit to various stakeholders. Therefore, excellent communication skills are crucial. Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines for the release of information, as well as departmental policies, is required to ensure compliance. The specialist must be adept at multitasking and prioritizing requests based on patient and departmental needs. They will communicate with internal and external individuals to obtain information and provide high-quality service to all users. Identifying and analyzing problems related to equipment failure and patient requests within the file room is part of the specialist's duties. They act as a liaison between the Radiology department and the Emory Healthcare medical records department. This position is well-suited for candidates who demonstrate compassion, a commitment to excellent customer service, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and communication abilities are essential. Ideal candidates should have the capacity to quickly learn new processes, procedures, and software programs, while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy in their daily work. Minimum Required Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Experience in a radiology department or related healthcare field is preferred. Skills: 1. Knowledge of radiology department workflow, medical records processes, and healthcare administration is advantageous. 2. Basic computer literacy. 3. Strong written and oral communication skills. 4. Ability to multitask effectively. (Note: Higher education is not required; candidates with relevant experience in an office environment, even outside of healthcare, may be considered eligible for hire.)
