Description

The Emory Department of Surgery, with The Emory University School of Medicine, is seeking a full-time faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This is an academic position with opportunity for clinical work as well as teaching and research. This position will work primarily as an Emergency General Surgeon at one of the Emory hospital campuses in the Division of Acute Care Surgery.  Positions are currently available at Emory Decatur Hospital (EDH), Emory University Hospital (EUH), Emory University Hospital Midtown (EUHM), or Emory Saint Joseph’s (ESJH) .

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

  • Serve as a surgeon for the Division of Acute Care Surgery within the Department of Surgery.
  • Provide operative and nonoperative care for patients with emergency surgical conditions.
  • Participate in the supervision, clinical education, training and development of surgical residents and medical students.
  • Participate equitability with site partners in the care of Acute Care Surgery patients.
  • Develop an academic portfolio in alignment with the Emory School of Medicine goals.
  • Participate in hospital and health system quality initiatives and relevant committees. 
  • Model leadership and provide evidence-based, compassionate, and equitable care for the patient population served.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Board Certified or Board Elegible in General Surgery
  • While not a requirement, additional fellowship training will be considered favorably
  • A valid, unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia
  • A controlled Substance Registration Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate

NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
