Overview

The Department of Orthopaedics at the Emory University School of Medicine is seeking an additional Internal Medicine physician to join our expanding program in the Medical Optimization Clinic. Our mission is to partner with a multidisciplinary team to provide compassionate, comprehensive, evidence-based medical optimization and preoperative assessment for our patients undergoing surgery at Emory University Orthopaedics and Spine Hospital. The physician is expected to function independently but also work in close collaboration with providers from other departments to coordinate medical optimization of patients prior to surgery.

 

The faculty member will be expected to participate in continuing education, professional and faculty development and scholarship as directed by their department. Expected faculty rank for these positions will be Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank and salary will be commensurate with selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.

 

Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Physician will attend to the needs of all patients within the scope of licensing, training and credentialing.
  • Attend to the medical needs of all patients by performing patient care activities to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a Physician and assist in generating adequate practice volume.
  • The Physician will participate in on-call duties and actively participate in meetings and committees.
  • Practice medicine within the current scope of national patient safety goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a Doctor of Medicine Degree (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree (D.O.).
  • Must hold a valid and unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified preferred. Hold a valid DEA certificate without restriction.
  • Experience in outpatient medical practice preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required. Must be computer literate.
