Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Pharmacy Controlled Substances Compliance Program Coordinator will work to support the department of pharmacy and hospital to achieve its department mission, goals, and vision. This position will be responsible for routine controlled substance audits, completing proactive controlled substance monitoring, analyzing potential diversion cases, contributing to departmental development and implementation of controlled substances (CS) best practices, assisting with regulatory and accreditation compliance efforts, and operations and teamwork that support department initiatives. Ensure all Board of Pharmacy and DEA requirements for controlled substances are met and maintained in an accurate and complete manner. Documentation includes appropriate record-keeping for all pharmacy locations. Audit CS procurement activities to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and segregation of duties. Audit distributive functions performed by department personnel involving CS. Audit CS dispense, administration, return and waste transactions including that performed inter-and intra-departmentally. Audit access and utilization of controlled substances as needed. Facilitate return of expired CS inventory to the reverse distributor. Audit controlled substance discrepancies via multiple manual or automated reports on a scheduled basis. Provide data relative to suspected loss or diversion in response to internally reported incidents using automated reports and analytics. Educate employees as to CS process or best practice changes when needed. Develop standard operating procedures to guide department and organization activity related to CS management. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associates Degree required, and two (2) years of relevant project support experience. Bachelor¿s degree preferred. Proficiency in Excel required. Equivalent combination of experience, education, and training may be considered in lieu of degree.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Light): 11-20 lbs , 0-33% of the workday (occasionally); 01-10 lbs 34-66% of the workday (frequently) Negligible 67-100% of the workday (constantly), Lifting 20 lbs max, Carrying of objects up to 10 lbs, Occasional to frequent standing & walking; Occasional to frequent sitting; close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing); Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure. Bio-hazardous waste; Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases, Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, Environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
