Description

Job Summary: An Anesthesia Technologist II performs all duties of the Anesthesia Technologist I while providing enhanced clinical and technical support to anesthesia providers. This role involves assisting with anesthesia administration and monitoring, supporting invasive and non-invasive procedures, and ensuring proper setup and function of advanced equipment. The Technologist II also contributes to staff training through active participation in the orientation and mentoring of new team members. Clinical Support 1. Assists the anesthesiologist in the administration and monitoring of anesthesia, possessing knowledge of anesthesia techniques, instruments, supplies, and technology. 2. May provide support to anesthesiologists with both invasive and non-invasive monitoring, as well as advanced line preparation and placement. Technical Equipment Support 1. Knowledge of advanced equipment testing, calibration, troubleshooting, cleaning, and disinfecting. 2. Must possess a comprehensive understanding of anesthesia equipment, medications, and procedures, and be well-acquainted with various types of anesthesia machines, monitors, and their appropriate usage. 3. May be tasked with ensuring connectivity between anesthesia vital sign monitoring equipment and the Anesthesia charting system. Team Collaboration 1. Assist actively in the orientation and mentoring of new staff. Safety and Infection Control 1. Adhere to principles of sterile technique and other infection control policies and standards to sustain a healthy work environment. Perform related responsibilities as required. Work Type: On-site - Works at a physical workplace, interacting with colleagues face-to-face

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Education - High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two (2) years of work experience as an Anesthesia Technician or Technologist and competency-based evaluation.
  • Certification - Basic Life Support certification (BLS)
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities (required):  Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Proficiency with sterile techniques and procedures. - Demonstrate capability for operating anesthesia supported equipment and patient monitoring - Troubleshooting (Problem Solving): Capacity to logically and systematically search for the source of a problem and makes the product or process operational. - Infection Control: Knowledge of methods and techniques for preventing or stopping the spread of pathogens in hospitals, healthcare facilities, or the workplace. - Medical Terminology: Capability to use the universal language for describing the human body and its processes, medical conditions, diagnoses, treatments, procedures, and instructions throughout the patient care journey to ensure quality/safe care delivery and accurate medical billing. - Patient Monitoring: Capability to use various medical equipment, technology, and clinical knowledge to monitor a patient's vital signs, physiological parameters, and other health indicators to identify potential issues early, contribute to accurate diagnoses and support effective patient care/treatment.

 

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day; 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday; 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday; Lifting 50 lbs max; frequent standing & walking and pushing and pulling; Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, and environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
