Description

We’re seeking a Registered Nurse to join our 4B Moderate Care Unit, a fast-paced, 12-bed, 24-hour observation unit supporting the entire Heart & Vascular Service Line at Emory University Hospital. This unique unit cares for a diverse mix of cardiovascular patients, including those transitioning from CICU, CVICU, 6E, 8E, and 4G stepdown units, as well as patients recovering from same-day procedures who require extended observation prior to discharge.

On 4B, you’ll care for a variety of patients with complex cardiovascular diagnoses and procedures, providing an exceptional platform to build critical care skills, enhance assessment abilities, and strengthen clinical judgment. The unit’s high patient turnover and diagnostic variety make it ideal for nurses seeking to develop strong organizational skills and rapid decision-making in a collaborative, high-acuity environment.

We are proud to be part of a health system with four Magnet®-recognized hospitals—the only one in Georgia with that distinction. 4B offers a dynamic opportunity for growth, learning, and professional excellence alongside a dedicated interdisciplinary team.

As an Registered Nurse, you’ll bring broad clinical experience and apply the AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care to deliver individualized, evidence-based care. You’ll serve as a resource for colleagues and a strong advocate for patients and families as you navigate a fast-paced clinical setting that blends observation and progressive care.

In this role, this individual will:

  • Deliver safe, effective, and independent nursing care using the nursing process.

  • Perform thorough patient assessments and recognize the impact of nursing care on outcomes.

  • Develop and implement patient care plans, incorporating patient and family input and adjusting as needed.

  • Document care accurately and efficiently in electronic and physical records.

  • Identify patient and family learning needs and recommend appropriate resources.

  • Recognize cultural differences and individualize care accordingly.

  • Delegate appropriately using the Synergy Model of Care.

  • Work effectively with the interdisciplinary team, patients, and family care partners.

  • Function in a developing leadership role, including Charge Nurse responsibilities when assigned.

  • Assist in orienting staff and students in the absence of a designated preceptor.

  • Demonstrate strong communication and conflict resolution skills.

  • Identify the need for policy revisions based on evidence-based research.

  • Engage in professional growth and actively apply the Synergy Model for Care in practice.

  • Collect, report, and analyze data to improve patient care and meet organizational standards.

  • Participate in surveys, interviews, and other methods to identify and resolve areas for improvement.

  • Maintain required points and contact hours per the clinical lattice PLAN system.
