Description

Under the supervision of the Chief Radiation Therapist, the, Lead Radiation Therapist:

  • Performs treatment and simulation procedures, and participates in coordinating radiation therapy services of patients receiving radiation therapy, as directed by the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Staff working in this role will provide supervision of daily activities; function as a liaison between the staff radiation therapists and other department team members for efficient, safe and patient-centered care; serves as a resource for team members to facilitate adherence to medical center and department guidelines and processes; provide guidance to staff therapist on technical procedures and operation of therapeutic equipment, and participate in developing therapy section standard work processes.
  • Maintain professional attitude; lead by example.
  • Performs radiation treatment and simulation procedures in accordance with the Radiation Oncologists instructions and departmental procedures.
  • Performs patient positioning and immobilization device construction to promote set-up consistency for daily treatments. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of three years experience as a radiation therapist with one year in a lead role photon and proton preferred.
  • Certificate or degree from an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification, and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
