Description

Shift: 8am - 4:30pm

 

Emory Medical Laboratory's mission is to transform health and healing by providing high quality, cost-effective, innovative laboratory services which enhance patient health. We're seeking a Digital Imaging Pathology Technician with experience in Anatomic Pathology who will support Emory Healthcare’s mission of clinical care, education, and research by demonstrating the core values of excellence, caring, and integrity. This individual:

 

  • Performs all aspects of digital imaging of glass microscopic slides.
  • Retrieves microscopic glass slides from appropriate laboratory section.
  • Utilizes high-throughput automated scanner instruments, following established laboratory protocols and policies for slide digitizing.
  • Utilizes hospital informatics, hospital picture archiving & communication system (PACS) and digital informatics software to track various stages of scanning completion.
  • Responsible for quality assurance of images to include troubleshooting instrumentation problems, reporting suboptimal slides to appropriate laboratory personnel, and documentation of issues & resolutions.
  • Responsible for communicating preanalytical errors to appropriate laboratory personnel.
  • Effectively communicates delays and quality issues with pathologists.
  • Responsible for distributing and/or filing of glass microscopic slides as required after digitizing is complete.
  • Responsible for routine maintenance of automated scanner instruments.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Intermediate computer skills; medical terminology preferred.
  • Experience with digital pathology scanning preferred.
