Description

We're seeking Wound Care Facility Float Registered Nurse, responsible for providing clinical resources in a variety of patient care departments throughout an EHC operating unit/facility. This individual is a capable clinician who has acquired broad experience in caring for patients, and has developed a sound understanding about the care of a particular patient population. This individual:

 

The float pool clinician expects to work in different clinical areas of an EHC facility based on skill set, patient volume, acuity, and the patient care and operational needs of said facility/OU.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, to include supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms.
  • Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory Universitys Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.
  • Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers.
  • Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care.
  • Recommends the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan.
  • Performs appropriate pre-operative stoma site marking and ostomy education. Develops and conducts post-operative ostomy education and ostomy care plan for the patient and family.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) AND Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program.

 

Experience:

 

  • Two years experience as an RN License: Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.

 

Certification:

 

1. BLS certification

2. ACLS may be required in designated departments.

3. Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications / Certification:

  • Certification in Continence Care is not required, but preferred.

 

Experience:

  • Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care preferred.
