The Emory Transplant Center (ETC) includes transplant programs in kidney, pancreas, liver, heart, and lung. We performed over 670 transplants in 2024 which included over 400 kidneys, 160 livers, 60 hearts, and 25 lungs. Emory is currently one of the highest volume kidney transplant centers in the United States, performing over 380 kidney transplants so far in 2025.
The Solid Organ Transplant Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will join a team of eleven solid organ transplant pharmacy specialists. The clinical pharmacy specialist will provide cross coverage to all transplant services on weekends and holidays. Responsibilities include working within an interdisciplinary transplant team using collaborative practice protocols. The individual will round with the inpatient team, perform daily profile reviews and monitoring, provide patient educations, and see patients in the transplant clinic on a rotational schedule. The clinician will act as a drug information resource, participate in quality improvement activities, develop and implement drug therapy protocols, and has opportunities to collaborate on research projects. The clinician will be involved in educating PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residents, pharmacy students, nurses, and other healthcare providers. The specialist may serve as a preceptor and mentor for pharmacists, residents, and students.
Eligible candidates should have their PharmD, a solid organ transplant PGY2 specialty residency or equivalent experience (5-7 years of clinical experience) in solid organ transplant, and be eligible for licensure in the state of Georgia. Board Certification is encouraged. Experience precepting students and residents is also preferred.
The Clinical Specialist Pharmacist practices as a clinical expert in specialty practice area(s). In addition to direct patient care activities, this position is responsible for ensuring appropriate medication therapy and clinical outcomes for the institution related to specialty area.
