Description

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist  is an entry to mid-level position in the neurodiagnostic unit or department.

  • The Neurodiagnostic Technologist performs EEG/ NCVs/Ambulatory procedures according to facility/department policy and procedures.
  • Can perform test set up, collect patient history, measure/mark/apply electrodes as per 10-20 guidelines, acquire EEG data, provide tech impression of EEG recording, and maintain patient safety during clinically relevant events.
  • May be asked to do other related duties such as electrode maintenance, monitoring par stock levels, and restocking.
  • Performing inpatient/outpatient EEG procedures per ACNS guidelines.
  • Measure and mark head for electrode placement, apply electrodes, record EEG study per department guidelines, end study and complete patient documentation.
  • Apply electrodes in ICU and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit in preparation for extended long term monitoring EEG studies.
  • Must participate in on-call rotation at designated locations. Maintaining optimal recordings. Electrode maintenance, equipment management etc.

Shift: 7a-7:30p


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
  • High school graduate or equivalent;
  • Entry level PC or Microsoft Windows knowledge
  • Enrollment in or graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Neurodiagnostic's Program or an Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university is desired.
  • 6 months experience working in a patient care environment



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
