6:30am - 5pm/ Full Time/ 40 Hours, 10 hour shift

Salary range - $19.36/hr - $26.36/hr

  

We're seeking a GI Lab Tech to work in the Endoscopy Lab at Emory University Hospital Midtown! In this vital role, you will support physicians in performing a wide range of routine and advanced gastro-intestinal diagnostic procedures while ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. We are seeking a certified technician who not only values precision and quality but also thrives in a collaborative clinical environment.

 

This individual will:    

  • Assist the physician in performing all routine and complex gastro-intestinal diagnostic procedures.
  • Orient and train lower level technicians, provide pre and post-operative education to patients, review procedure schedule and makes suggestions to improve workflow.
  • Deal directly with other hospital departments to schedule patient procedures, order supplies, or conduct in-service education to other staff members of the hospital.
  • Perform techniques using specialized equipment such as endoscopes, light sources, and GID accessory equipment, cautery and photocoagulation, monitoring equipment, peritoneoscopy equipment, motility machines, or other related equipment; performs preventive maintenance on equipment and troubleshoots equipment problems.
  • Know inventory standards and location of equipment and supplies; communicate low inventory to manager and orders supplies from other departments.
  • Properly dispose of broken equipment. Set up and assists the gastroenterologist with procedures such as gastroscopy, dilatation, colonoscopy, electrocoaugtery, flexible protoscopy, anoscopy, peritoneoscopy, liver biopsy, sclerosis, motility, secretin studies, gastric analysis, small bowel endoscopy, transesophageal cardiography, or other procedures.
  • Assist the gastroenterologist with specimen collection for biopsy, cytology, fecal, viral cultures, duedenal aspirate, and others.
  • Operate EKG and other monitoring equipment, discontinue IV fluids, begin and assist in CPR, administer oxygen, monitor vital signs during endoscopy or recovery room procedures and notify the physician of any abnormalities or significant changes.
  • Under nursing or physician supervision, may draw-up and administer medications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years Gastro-Intestinal Diagnostic Laboratory Technician experience.
