Under the direct supervision of the (practice) preceptor, the resident participates in a well structured rotational program which encompasses the various aspects of a general or specialized pharmacy practice.
Objectives of the residency program are to develop highly specialized practice skills which go beyond those required for licensure and to develop the knowledge, attributes, and skills to provide pharmaceutical care to patients, with a focus on outcomes, all while embracing aspects of the medication process.
The Resident will become knowledgeable about the steps of the medication process including proficiency in computer transcription of medication orders and an ability to identify, resolve and/or prevent medication related problems. Receives instruction and becomes proficient at daily patient profile review to assess, monitor and recommend appropriate drug therapy. Develops practice management skills and an understanding of the role of the pharmacist as a leader with a commitment to lifelong learning.
