7:00 AM – 7:30 PM / Full-Time / 36 Hours

 

We’re seeking a Unit Nurse Educator for our Medical-Surgical Department on Unit 3400, a 38-bed unit providing thorough and compassionate care to complex medical and post-operative patients. As a certified bariatric unit, 3400 emphasizes collaborative, evidence-based care to optimize patient outcomes, support recovery, and promote self-efficacy after discharge. Our patient population includes individuals with complex gastrointestinal disorders, chronic renal disease, infectious diseases, gerontology-related conditions, and general surgical needs in specialties such as thoracic, vascular, urology, and podiatry.
This clinical expert will lead the application of evidence-based practices to support high-quality patient care and serve as a key resource for nurses, physicians, patients, and families. The role focuses on staff development, including education, mentoring, and preceptorships, while also supporting resource coordination, evaluating clinical practices, and fostering effective unit communication. This individual will:

  • Serve as a resource person to physicians, nurses, patients, and family members.

  • Apply principles of adult learning to plan and conduct educational sessions that promote staff development, student competence, and positive patient/family outcomes.

  • Role model expert communication skills to colleagues through example.

  • Demonstrate foresight regarding the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes based on intuition and experience.

  • Be recognized as an expert clinician and a leader within their area of specialty.

  • Complete employee conference, risk management, and unit management reports within specified time frames.

  • Identify the need for revision and evaluate the effectiveness of operational forms.

  • Provide and coordinate the resources needed within the unit to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

  • Role model time management skills through example.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • 2 years of recent nursing experience, a minimum of 2 years of experience in the area of concentration.

  • A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.

  • BLS certification

  • ACLS may be required for certain departments, post hire

  • Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty

  • Must complete UNE criteria requirements within nine (9) months of promotion or hire, including completion of Enhancing your Communication HLC#6488.

PLAN:

  • Meets all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments.

  • Completion of VIP or EBP Project.

  • Achieves points/electives and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) point system to maintain position.

  • Completion of formal preceptor training workshop.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: MSN or DNP

  • Certification: Nursing certification preferred
