Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the CNO the ACNO position will directly oversee the quality, safety, & education structures within the Emory University Hospital (EUH) and Emory University Orthopaedics & Spine Hospital (EUOSH). A key leader within the Nurse Executive team at EUH/EUOSH, the ACNO position will partner with the operational leaders within each service line to ensure evidence-based standards of care delivery. Responsible for policy management, HAC programs, and education within the Department of Nursing.
Specific Expectations:
1. Participates in the development and implementation of the nursing strategic plan.
2. Implements nursing-related elements of the entity-specific annual operating plan.
3. Identifies improvements in the value of care and services.
Leadership:
1. Acts as the CNO in their absence.
2. Provides vision and direction within Nursing in coordination with the Chief Nursing Officer.
3. Leads planning, implementation, and evaluation at both strategic and tactical levels.
4. Represents Emory Healthcare at various professional levels and participates in community service.
Human Resources Management:
1 Ensures adequate staff quality and numbers by adhering to productivity measures.
2. Focuses on talent management and retention.
3. Achieves goals for vacancy rates and turnover, ensuring active engagement in governance activities.
Financial Management:
1. Manages financial accountability for operating and capital budgets.
2. Meets targets for contribution margin and budget variance.
3. Ensures staffing and resource efficiency based on benchmarks.
Performance Improvement/Safety:
1. Continuously assesses and improves service performance.
2. Maintains regulatory compliance and promotes a safety culture.
3. Supports performance improvement activities and meets annual quality and safety goals.
Regulatory Compliance:
1. Maintains knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards.
2. Evaluates compliance, identifies best practices and deficiencies, and develops corrective actions.
3. Enhances interdisciplinary compliance awareness and tracks relevant laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree required; BSN required if Master’s is not in nursing
Experience: At least 10 years of progressive nursing experience, with a minimum of five years in administrative roles
Licensure: Current or eligible for RN licensure in Georgia
Certification: Required in nursing administration or related expertise
Preferred Qaulifications:
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)
Experience with NDNQI Data Mgmt
Experience as Magnet Writer
