Description

8:00a – 4:30p / Full Time / 40 Hours 

The Clinical Dietitian assesses, develops, implements and evaluates nutrition care for patients using Nutrition Care Process. Complete competency of physical assessments on patients. Provides care independently. Provides nutrition counseling to patients and caregivers based on identified needs. Participates in medical rounds, discharge planning and patient care conferences. Completes nutrition transplant orientation and is able to provide nutrition care per CMS guidelines for patients in all 3 phases of transplant. Provides on call patient care as scheduled. Provides weekend and holiday coverage as scheduled. Assess, implement, manage or adjust diet prescription for oral/enteral/parenteral nutrition, as appropriate for patients’ medical condition. Makes appropriate use of available education materials. Resource to FNS staff for evaluation and recommendation of nutrition products and supplies. May serve on FNS/hospital wide committees. Effective time management in organizing workload and accomplishing tasks. Identifies problems, collects data, and takes corrective action for new and/or assigned performance improvement projects. Completes preceptor training. Precepts interns under supervision of mentor dietitian. Attends internship seminars/case studies regularly. Resource on nutrition to physician and allied health members. May develop written materials for staff. Communicate and interpret nutrition information for other staff in patient care rounds. May participate in hospital related events. May participate in professional organizations. Completes annual competencies on time. Seeks guidance and expertise from peers and appropriate medical personnel in order to expand professional knowledge for application of Medical Nutrition Therapy. Maintains Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) portfolio to reflect professional and career goals. Completes at least 15 nutrition related CEU's annually. Completes at least 2 approved transplant related continuing education units annually. May participate in presentations to local organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 0 to 1 year (less than 2080 hours) of experience as a clinical dietitian in an acute care inpatient setting, long term care facility, long term acute care facility, rehabilitation facility, and/or outpatient nutrition program.
  • Credentialed as a registered dietitian with CDR.
  • Licensed in the state of Georgia as a licensed dietitian.

If dietitian does not currently possess RD and/or LD credential, must obtain within 2 months of hire.

Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required.
