7pm - 7:30am/ Full Time/ 36 Hours 

  

We’re seeking a Unit Charge Nurse for our Medical-Surgical Department on Unit 3400, a 38-bed unit providing thorough and compassionate care to complex medical and post-operative patients. As a certified bariatric unit, 3400 emphasizes team-based collaboration to enhance recovery, reduce length of stay, and support patients in achieving independence post-discharge. The unit cares for patients with gastrointestinal disorders, chronic renal disease, infectious diseases, gerontology-related conditions, and post-operative needs across surgical specialties such as thoracic, vascular, urology, and podiatry.
This experienced RN leader will serve as both a clinical expert and an operational guide, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care during their assigned shift. Utilizing the Synergy Model for Care, they will personalize nursing interventions, coordinate team efforts, and foster a supportive environment for staff development and interdisciplinary collaboration. This individual will:

  • Plan, coordinate, and direct the daily operations of a specific shift on the clinical unit.

  • Supervise staff and facilitate communication with physicians and internal stakeholders to ensure optimal patient and family-centered care.

  • Be recognized as a change agent and lead efforts to enhance organizational systems aligned with departmental mission, vision, and values.

  • Demonstrate creativity in problem-solving, skill in conflict negotiation, and strength in team collaboration.

  • Exhibit sound judgment, clinical insight, and appropriate risk-taking; role model expert communication for peers.

  • Anticipate the impact of nursing care on outcomes through experience and intuitive assessment.

  • Be recognized as an expert clinician and a leader in their specialty area.

  • Complete employee conferences, risk management documentation, and unit reports within specified timeframes.

  • Identify the need for and evaluate the effectiveness of operational policies and forms.

  • Provide and coordinate resources required for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Experience: 2 years of recent nursing experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience in the area of concentration

  • A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing

  • BLS certification

  • ACLS may be required for certain departments, post hire

  • Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty

  • PL N: Must meet all Clinical Nurse Employee Commitments

  • Achieves electives/points and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) point system to maintain position

  • Must complete UCN/SNM criteria requirements within nine (9) months of promotion or hire, including completion of Enhancing your Communication HLC#6488, completion of formal preceptor training workshop and enrollment in LEAP course

  • Education: MSN or DNP
