Description

Job Summary:

1. Oversees clinical operations and patient flow across Emory Healthcare hospitals or Physician Group Practice sites.
2. Accountable for implementing nursing initiatives that support the annual operating plan and core nursing care delivery systems.
3. Ensures achievement of clinical quality outcomes and exceptional patient/family experiences.
4. Deploys entity goals, manages staffing resources, budget expectations, and regulatory readiness.
5. Mentors and coaches direct reports, serving under the entity CNO and as a member of the senior 

Specific Expectations:

1. Strategic Planning:
2. Participates in the development and implementation of the nursing strategic plan.
3. Implements nursing-related elements of the entity-specific annual operating plan.
4. Identifies improvements in the value of care and services.
Leadership:

1. Acts as the CNO in their absence.
2. Provides vision and direction within Nursing in coordination with the Chief Nursing Officer.
3. Leads planning, implementation, and evaluation at both strategic and tactical levels.
4. Represents Emory Healthcare at various professional levels and participates in community service.
Human Resources Management:
1 Ensures adequate staff quality and numbers by adhering to productivity measures.
2. Focuses on talent management and retention.
3. Achieves goals for vacancy rates and turnover, ensuring active engagement in governance activities.
Financial Management:
1. Manages financial accountability for operating and capital budgets.
2. Meets targets for contribution margin and budget variance.
3. Ensures staffing and resource efficiency based on benchmarks.
Performance Improvement/Safety:
1. Continuously assesses and improves service performance.
2. Maintains regulatory compliance and promotes a safety culture.
3. Supports performance improvement activities and meets annual quality and safety goals.
Technology:
1. Oversees the use of technology in nursing care.
2. Integrates nursing information and management with technologies to enhance care delivery.
3. Explores innovative uses of technology and data in care and process improvement.
Regulatory Compliance:
1. Maintains knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards.
2. Evaluates compliance, identifies best practices and deficiencies, and develops corrective actions.
3. Enhances interdisciplinary compliance awareness and tracks relevant laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications (A Must Have):

1. Education: Master’s degree required; Doctorate in nursing preferred. BSN required if Master’s is not in nursing.
2. Experience: At least 10 years of progressive nursing experience, with a minimum of five years in administrative roles.
3. Licensure: Current or eligible for RN licensure in Georgia.
4. Certification: Required in nursing administration or related expertise.
5. Skills: Demonstrated competency in nursing practice, problem analysis, project management, budgeting, and regulatory compliance. Excellent public speaking and communication skills.
Abilities: High-level critical thinking, negotiation, decision-making skills, and effective matrix management.

Additional Details

Preferred Skills:

 

This ACNO position will directly oversee the quality, safety, & education structures within the Emory University Hospital (EUH) and Emory University Orthopaedics & Spine Hospital (EUOSH). A key leader within the Nurse Executive team at EUH/EUOSH, the ACNO position will partner with the operational leaders within each service line to ensure evidence-based standards of care delivery. Responsible for policy management, HAC programs, and education within the Department of Nursing.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)

Experience with NDNQI Data Mgmt
