Description

Emory Medical Laboratory's mission is to transform health and healing by providing high quality, cost-effective, innovative laboratory services which enhance patient health. We're seeking an experienced Medical Lab Technician II with a background in Blood Bank and Core Lab specialties. 

 

Shift: 6am - 2:30pm, rotating weekends

 

  • With supervisory oversight, performs various laboratory tests and procedures while adhering to standard operating procedures to assist in the diagnosis, study and treatment, or prevention of disease.
  • May perform tests in one scientific discipline or perform selected tests in multiple disciplines or areas provided competency is established.
  • Disciplines may include selected hematological, chemical, histological, immunohematological and microbiological procedures and microscopic evaluations on serum, urine, body fluids, and feces.
  • Prepares reagents as needed.
  • Responsible for quality control.
  • Evaluates the validity of test results; compares them to previous results and other laboratory data.
  • In complex cases, evaluates all information and determines whether test results should be released, repeated, or referred to a pathologist or to the appropriate individual(s).
  • May perform venipuncture as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Associate's degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program or 60 college semester hours including chemistry and 13 months of training in an NAACLS approved program or two years of college and graduation from a 12 month military laboratory training program.
  • Two years relevant experience required.
  • Certified MLT (ASCP), MLT (AMT), or MLT (AAB) required.
