Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinic at Emory University Hospital Midtown.

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dynamic Infectious Diseases team in our outpatient clinic.  This role offers the opportunity to work with a wide spectrum of Infectious Diseases patients, providing comprehensive care in a supportive and collaborative environment.  The clinic schedule will be Monday through Friday and will not require call, nights, or weekends.

 

Ideal candidate will have 2 + years of Infectious Disease experience as an NP or PA.

Job Description:

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Infectious Disease Management: Provide expert care for a broad spectrum of Infectious Diseases patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. This includes managing complex cases, coordinating care for both acute and chronic infections, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
  • HIV Care: Manage the long-term care of patients living with HIV, including antiretroviral therapy, monitoring, and prevention of complications.
  • Transition of Care: Coordinate and manage the smooth transition of patients from inpatient to outpatient care, ensuring continuity of care and reducing readmission rates.
  • Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT): Oversee patients requiring OPAT, ensuring effective treatment and follow-up care, including monitoring for potential complications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program (NP) or Physician Assistant Program (PA)
  • Currently licensed as a Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body, or Certified as a Physician's Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Infectious Diseases is preferred.  Willing to consider a related specialty for someone who is eager to transition into Infectious Diseases.
  • May require at least one year of direct experience in one or more high acuity clinical specialties.
  • American Heart Association BLS and Healthcare Provider certifications required.  ACLS may be required in some areas.
  • Strong clinical skills in managing complex infectious diseases, HIV care, and outpatient management of chronic conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork.
